INTRACRANIAL FASCIAL PARALYSIS AND ITS SURGICAL TREATMENT

ABSTRACT
Neurotology occupies a special place in the modem otology. Facial paralysis is one of the most important topics in this era. The conventional approaches to the peripheral facial paralysis are restricted to the 2nd and the 3rd portions of the intratemporal segment. In this review, the causes of and the surgical approaches to the peripheral type of facial paralysis that affects the intracranial and the first portion of the intratemporal segment of this nerve are discussed.

ÖZET
Otonöroloji, günümüzde K.B.B. \'nin özel bir dalı haline gelmiştir. Bu branşın ilgilendiği başlıca konularda birisi, fasiyal paralizilerdir. Periferik tip fasiyal paralizilere geleneksel cerrahi yaklaşım, intratemporal fasiyel sinirin 2. ve 3. parçalarına yönelik olagelmiştir. Bu derlemede, fasiyal sinirin beyin sapını terk ettikten sonraki ilk iki kısmına (intrakraniyal, ve intratemporal kısmın 1. parçası) ait paralizi nedenleri ve cerrahi tedavi teknikleri tartışılmıştır.
