ABSTRACT
Although the upper and lower airways share common functions, they have different structures so that their inherent responses to contact with inhaled allergen will produce different symptoms. The incidence of allergic rhinitis in children with allergic asthma is high. it is always, relevant, therefore, to examine the nose for evidence of allergic mucosal reaction in any child who presents with recurring chest problems.

ÖZET
Alt ve üst solunum yollarının arasında, fonksiyonel benzerlikler olmasına karşın yapısal olarak farklılıklar vardır ve allerjenlere verdikleri klinik yanıtlar farklıdır. Allerjik astmalı çocuklarda allerjik rinit görülme insidansı yüksektir, bu nedenle tekrarlayan göğüs semptomları olan her çocuğa nazal muayene yapmak gereklidir.
