The most important problems of patients with peripheral facial paralysis are poor cosmesis and keratitis which may occur secondary to the upper eyelid disfunction. Many surgical techniques are used for rehabilitation of the upper eyelid in patients with peripheral facial paralysis. Wire-spring and gold weight implantations are preferred because of their cost effectiveness, reversibility, low complication rates, better cosmesis and early functional results in the postoperative period. In this study, surgical technique, advantages and disadvantages of wire-spring implantation is discussed in jive patients with peripheral facial paralysis.

Periferik fasial paralizi (PFP) olgularında palpebral disfonksiyona bağlı olarak keratid gelişme riski ve kötü kozmetik, görünüm söz konusudur. Keratid oluşmasını önlemek için medikal yöntemler ile tarsorofî başta olmak üzere birçok cerrahi tedavi yöntemi uygulanmaktadır. Bu yöntemlerden üst göz kapağına tel-yay implantasyonu ucuz ve reversibl olan, kolay uygulanan, kozmetik açıdan tatminkar, postoperatif dönemde hemen sonuç veren ve önemli komplikasyonlara yol açmayan bir yöntemdir. Bu çalışmada, yay implantasyonu ile üst göz kapağı rehabilitasyonu yapılan PFPli 5 olguda cerrahi teknik ve sonuçlar anlatılarak bu tekniğin avantaj ve dezavantajları tartışılmıştır.
