Otoacoustic emissions are low level acoustic signals generated by the cochlea. They are divided into two main groups as Spontaneous and Evoked otoacoustic emissions. Otoacoustic emissions have a vast application field as cochlear screening of the neonates, the deleterious effects of ototoxic drugs, detrimental effects of noise on cochlea, sound conditioning of cochlea against sound trauma. The source of the otoacoustic emissions is the sound generated by the hearing process in the cochlea, which is reflected to the ear drum by the ossicles. In this study distortion product otoacoustic emission growth responses are analyzed in 20 guinea pigs.

Otoakustik emisyonlar iç kulak tarafından üretilen düşük şiddetteki akustik sinyallerdir. Otoakustik emisyonlar iki ana grupta toplanırlar: Spontan ve Uyarılmış otoakustik emisyonlar. Temeli, cochleada işitmeyi sağlayan duysal işlemlerin kulak zarına akseden titreşimlerinin kaydedilmesine dayanan otoakustik emisyonların yeni doğanların cochlear patolojilerinin erken tespitinden, cochleo toksik ilaçların etkilerine, gürültünün cochleadaki etkilerinden, kulağın ses travmasına karşı immünizasyonuna kadar yayılan geniş bir uygulama sahası bulunmaktadır. Bu çalışmada 20 guinea pig\'in distortion product otoakustik emisyon cevapları incelenmiştir.
