There are only a few reports about the effects of oxmetasoline hydrochloride on computed tomography in chronic paranasal sinus infections. The presented study was designed to investigate the effect of topical vasoconstrictors on Lund-Mackay staging system. 32 patients with chronic paranasal sinus infections underwent coronal CT scanning prior to and following the intranasal application of oxymetasoline hydrochloride. The CT scans were evaluated with Lund-Mackay staging system by two authors (NTE, BA). In 25 patients (%78.1) there were no differences between the two CT scans. We concluded that Lund-Mackay stages weren\'t affected by the use of topical vasoconstrictors.

Literatürde kronik paranazal sinüs enfeksiyonu olan hastalarda oksimetazolin hidroklorid\'in kompüterize tomografi ve evrelendirmeye etkileri üzerinde az sayıda çalışma mevcuttur. Bu çalışma topikal dekonjestanların Lund - Mackay evrelendirme sistemine etkilerini incelemek amacıyla düzenlenmiştir. Kronik paranazal sinüs enfeksiyonu olan 32 hastanın oksimetazolin hidroklorid öncesi ve sonrasında koronal planda CT\'leri çekilmiş, tomografiler iki otör tarafından (NTE, BA) Lund - Mackay evrelendirme sistemiyle değerlendirilmiştir. 25 hastada (% 78. l) her iki tomografi arasında fark saptanmamıştır. Sonuç olarak kronik paranazal sinüs enfeksiyonu olan hastaların Lund - Mackay evrelerinin oksimetazolin hidroklorit ile değişmediği düşünülmüştür.
