Nasopharyngeal angiofibromas, that constitute % 0.05 of all head and neck tumors are more likely to occur in adolescent males. It has been shown that these tumors express positivity towards androgen receptors and tumor diameter and vascularity can be reduced through estrogen treatment. Besides some authors postulating that estrogen has a direct effect on the estrogen receptors possessing tumor tissue, some believe that tumors may be receptor free and the adıninistration of estrogen supresses the normal male testesterone acting as phyological antagonist. In this study, of nine male patients between 7-23 years of age, angiofibromas were analysed for estrogen and progesterone receptors. Whereas estrogen receptor positivity was found in total six cases, two with extellsive and four cases with focal posivity, progesterone receptors were positive ex-tensively for three cases and focally far three cases.

Tüm baş-boyun tümörlerinin % 0,05\'ini oluşturan nazofaringeal anjiofibromalar adolesan erkeklerde görülme eğilimindedir. Bu tümörlerin androjen reseptörleri içerdiği ve estrojen tedavisi ile tümör çapının ve damarlanmasının azaldığı bilinmektedir. Estrojenin bu etkisini estrojen reseptörü içeren tümör dokusuna direkt etkisi ile oluşturduğunu savunan araştırmacılar yanışım, tümör dokusunun estrojen reseptörü içermediği ve estrojenin fizyolojik olarak testesteron antagonistı etkisi ile tümörü regrese ettiğim savunan yayınlar da mevcuttur. Bu çalışmada anjiofıbroma tanısı alan 7-23 yaşları arasında 9 erkek hastada, estrojen ve progesteron reseptörleri çalışıldı.Altı olguda estrojen reseptör pozitifliği saptandı. Boyanma 4 olguda vokal , 2 olguda yaygın olarak bulunurken , progesteron reseptör pozitifliği 3 olguda fokal, 3 olguda yaygın olarak saptandı.
