ABSTRACT
Widespread use of broad-spectrum antibiotics and the increase in number of immunocompromised individuals have given rise to mycotic infections by enhancing fungal growth via alteration of normal flora. Enhanced imaging with computed tomography and magnetic resonance scanning are the main diagnostic devices. Biopsy is the most important diagnostic tool. Mainly the management must be directed towards the correction of the underlying predisposing pathology. Ketaconazol and Flucanozol are the new dimensions in medical treatment.

ÖZET
Geniş spektrumlu antibiyotiklerin son yıllarda sık kullanılması ve immün sistem bozukluğu olan hastaların sayısındaki artmayla birlikte baş-boyun bölgesindeki mantar enfeksiyonlarının sayısında da önemli artışlar gözlenmektedir. CT ve MRI gibi yöntemler tanısal kapasiteyi önemli ölçüde geliştirmiştir. Kesin tanı biopsi ile konur. Tedavide esas amaç altta yatan predispozan patolojinin düzeltilmesidir. Ketakonazol ve flukanozol türevi ilaçlar medikal tedavide yeni bir çığır açmıştır.
