Auditory neuropathy is a hearing disorder characterized by the preservation of outer hair cell function despite the absence of auditory brainstem responses. The pathophysiology and etiology of this condition remain unknown. This clinic entity could have identified by the careful documentation of clinical history and the application of audiological test battery. Outer hair cells are healthy in this disease. Therefore the treatment is controversial. Auditory neuropathy disease is to keep in mind because correct differential diagnosis is important for most appropriate treatment. In this paper, we presented 10 years old boy with auditory neuropathy and our clinical approach to this disease. We did not apply hearing aid to the patient. We suggested only rehabilitation. Four-year follow-up of the patient, we observed that hearing levels were better. Additionally, we reviewed the physiopathology of auditory neuropathy and the odyologic and clinical characteristic of auditory neuropathy.

İşitsel nöropati, işitsel beyin cevabı yokluğuna rağmen dış saçlı hücre fonksiyonlarının korunduğu işitme bozukluğudur. Bu durumun etyoloji ve patofizyolojisi bilinmemektedir. Bu klinik antite dikkatli klinik anamnez ve odyolojik test bataryaları kullanılarak ayırt edilebilmektedir. Dış saçlı hücreler sağlıklı olduğu için bu hastalıkta tedavi tartışmalıdır. İşitsel nöropati akılda tutulmalı, çünkü hastalığın ayırıcı tanısının doğru yapılması uygun tedavinin verilmesi açısından önemlidir. Bu çalışmada, 10 yaşında işitsel nöropatili bir hastayı ve hastalığa klinik yaklaşımımızı sunduk. Hastaya işitme cihazı uygulamadık, yalnızca eğitim önerdik. Dört yıllık takibimiz sonucunda çocuğun işitme eşiklerinin daha iyi seviyeye geldiğini gözlemledik. Bu olgu ile işitsel nöropatinin odyolojik, klinik özelliklerini, fizyopatolojisini ve tedavisini gözden geçirdik. Ayrıca işitsel nöropatili hastalara klinik yaklaşımımızı sunduk.
