ABSTRACT
Prostoglandin synthesis capacity of the cochlea was shown in the literature recently. Prostoglandins were also suspected to relate with inner ear malfunctions and their capability in the treatment of inner ear diseases were considered. This pilot study is designed to investigate the use of synthetic PGE 1, misoprostol in a group of patients with sudden sensorineııral hearing loss and promising results were obtained.

ÖZET
Son yularda kokleadaki prostoglandin sentez mekanizmasının gösterilmesi ile bu ajanların iç kulak fonksiyonların daki yerleri araştırılmaya başlanmıştır. İç kulak patolojilerinde prostoglandinlerin eksikliklerinin tespiti tedavide de bu ajanlardan yararlanılabileceğini düşündürmüştür. Bu çalışmada bu fikirden yola çıkılarak ani işitme kayıplarında PGE1, misoprostol tedavisinin yeri araştırılmış ve umut vaat eden ön sonuçlar yayınlanmıştır.
