Between September 1992 and September 1993, seven patients were operated for hypopharyngeal and cervical esophageal squamous cell carcinoma. In 6 of them total pharyngo-laryngoesophagectomy was performed and the defect was reconstructed with gastric transposition. Total pharyngo- laryngectomy and radial forearm free flap reconstruction was performed in one patient. Three patients, one in early and two in late postoperative period, died due to pulmonary embolism and local recurrences respectively. Two of four alive patients were undertaken chemotherapy program for distant metastases. One stage operation, as we did, instead of multiple stage operations, should be preferred for these kind Of patients who have low 2 and 5 year survival rates.

Eylül 1992 ve Eylül 1993 tarihleri arasında hipofarenks ve servikal özofagus skuamoz hücre karsinomalı yedi hasta ameliyat edilmiştir. Bunlardan 6\'sına total faringo-laringo-özofajektomi uygulanmış ve dejekt gastrik transpozisyon ile rekonstrükte edilmiştir. Bir hastada da total faringo-larenjektomi ve raidal önkol serbest flap rekonstrüksiyonu yapılmıştır. Bir hasta pulmoner embolizme bağlı olarak erken postoperatif dönemde, iki hasta da lokal rekürrense bağlı olarak geç postoperatif dönemde kaybedilmiştir. Yaşayan 4 hastadan iki tanesine uzak metastaz nedeniyle kemoterapi uygulanmıştır. 2 ve 5 yıllık survive\'ları düşük olan bu tip hastalara çok aşamalı operasyonlar yerine bizim de uyguladığımız gibi tek aşamalı ameliyatlar tercih edilmelidir.
