ABSTRACT
Temporary or permanent facial paralysis of peripheral type can cause serious eye complaints
such as conjunctivitis and keratitis, cosmetic and psychological problems. Many methods are practiced for the rehabilitation of facial paralysis; tarsoraphy is the classical and most widely used method for the protection of the eye but, it is not a functional and dynamic method. This study indicates that gold weight implantation for the rehabilitation of the upper eyelid is a superior method compared to tarsoraphy with respect to the functional and cosmetic results.

ÖZET
Periferik fasial paralizilerde oluşan, geçici veya kalıcı üst göz kapağı felci gözde kuruluk, yanmabatma hissi, konjunktivit ve keratit gibi sorunların yanı sıra kozmetik ve psikolojik bozukluklara da yol açmaktadır. Üst göz kapağı felcinin rehabilitasyonunda birçok yöntem denenmiştir; gözü koruma amacıyla tarsofari en sık kullanılan yöntem olmakla beraber, fonksiyonel ve dinamik bir yöntem değildir. Bu çalışma, üst göz kapağına altın implant uygulanmasının, fonksiyonel ve kozmetik sonuçları açısından tarsorafıye karşı üstün bir yöntem olduğunu göstermektedir.
