In this study, we investigated the effectiveness of otovent® which is a new autoinflation device on 10 patients with eustachian tube dysfunction and on 30 patients with serous otitis media (SOM). Thirty patients with SOM who were treated with decongesfants were choosen as the control group. Of 30 patients with SOM, 36.8 % required ventilation tubes after 9 months of follow up and this constituted a statistically significant difference (p<0.05 chi square) when compared to the control group. N one of the 10 patients with eustachian tube dysfunction who used otovent® developed retraction of tympanic membrane or SOM. As a result, it is concluded that otovent® used for 6 Weeks reduced the need for ventilation tubes yo a great extent. It is also found encouraging for patients with eustachian tube dysfunction.

Bu çalışmada yaşları 4-10 arasında değişen, östaki disfonksiyonlu 10 hasta ile, seröz otitis media (SOM)\'lı 30 hasta üzerinde yeni bir otoinflasyon aracı olan otovent® cihazının etkinliği araştırılmıştır. Dekonjestan tedavi verilerek tedavi edilen 30 SOM\'lu hasta kontrol grubu olarak alınmıştır. Dokuz aylık takip sonucu otovent uygulanan 30 SOM\'lu hastanın %36.8 ine ventilasyon tüpü ihtiyacı doğdu. Kontrol grubu ile karşılaştırıldığında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı fark bulundu
