A female patient was referred to our clinic with the complaints of sore throat , dysphagia and recurrent white membrane formation on the tonsils. There was use of broad-spectrum antibiotics for one and a half month in her medical history. In the physical examination, both tonsils were hypertrophic as Grade IV and there was white-yellow membrane on the whole surface of the tonsils which bled when picked up and quickly re-appeared in the follow up period. Candida species were detected in the microbiologic and histopathologic examination. Routine blood tests were all normal. All her complaints improved after two months with antifungal therapy. All membranes completely disappeared and tonsils were Grade I. In this article, a rarely seen local invasive tonsillar mycosis was discussed with the literature.

Otuz yaşında bayan hasta boğazda ağrı, tonsiller üzerinde yoğun olarak oluşan ve sık tekrarlayan beyaz membran oluşumu ve zor yutma şikayetiyle başvurdu. Bir buçuk aydır geniş spektrumlu antibiyotik kullanımı olan hastanın muayenesinde tonsillerin grade IV hipertrofik olduğu ve tüm tonsiller yüzeyi kaplayan beyaz sarımtrak kaldırmakla kanayan ve takibinde sık tekrarladığını gözlemlediğimiz membran izlendi. Mikrobiyolojik ve histopatolojik tetkikte Candida species saptandı. Rutin tetkikleri normal saptanan hastanın tüm şikayetleri iki aylık antifungal tedavi ile geçti. Fizik muayenesinde tonsiller grade I’e geriledi ve membranlar tamamen kayboldu. Oldukça nadir rastlanan bölgesel invaziv tonsiller mikozis literatür eşliğinde tartışıldı.
