Carotid body tumors are uncommon neoplasms Which arise from paraganglion cells in neural crest. The importance of this rare tumor arise from the critical location and hypervascularity, as these can increase the risk of morbidity and mortality when it is operated directly. So it becomes very important to embolize selectively, the feeding vessel of the tumor before operation. We review literatuer about glomus caroticum adjuvant therapies because of a patient who is operated after selective embolization and there is no complication both intra-and postoperatively.

Glomus caroticum, karotid bifurkasyonunda bulunan nöral krest kökenli paraganglion hücrelerinden gelişen, sık görülemeyen her neoplazmdır. Bu nadir tümörün hipervasküler olması ve kritik yerleşimi nedeniyle, direk olarak cerrahi uygulanan vakalarda mortalite ve morbidite riski çok yüksektir. Bu riski mümkün olduğu kadar azaltabilmek için, tümörün beslendiği damarı hedef alan selektif embolizasyon çok önemlidir. Bizde, selektif embolizasyon sonrası cerrahi uyguladığımız ve intra ve postoperatif herhangi bir komplikasyonla karşılaşmadığımız bir vaka nedeniyle glomus caroticum adjuvan tedavilerini gözden geçirdik.
