Recent advantages in the radiologic evaluation of dysphagic patient enabled the clinician to decide the level of dysphagia according to the swallowing phases. In addition, the appropriate intervention such as volume control, positioning of the bolus, posture, etc. take place to manage the problem. The purpose of this paper is to establish a protocol for modified barium swallow study procedure. Several hospital policies in practice and the literature review are taken as a guide for this protocol. The final form is a result of more than 400 application of the protocol in our clinic.

Disfajili hastaların radyolojik değerlendirmelerindeki yeni gelismeler klinisyenlerin hem disfaji patolojilerinin hangi fazda olduğunu, hem de rehabilitasyon sırasında lokma volum kontrolü, lokma pozisyonu ve postür etkinliği konusunda bilgi vermektedir. Bu yazının amacı modifiye baryumlu yutma değerlendirme protokolü olusturarak klinik uygulamaların standart biçimde ele alınmasını ve sonuçların objektif verilere dayanmasını sağlamaktır. Bu protokol, çesitli hastane uygulama protokolleri ve literatürdeki protokoller göz önüne alınarak hazırlanmıs ve kliniğimizde 400’den fazla hasta üzerinde uygulanarak son halini almıstır.
