ABSTRACT
Thirty patients were studied to determine the effects of total laryngectomy + radical neck dissection + hemithyroidectomy on thyroid function. Serum thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) levels, serum triiodothyronine levels (T3 RIA) and serum thyroxine (T4 RIA) levels by radioimmunoassay were obtained. Results showed that all patients had normal postoperative T3R1A and T4 RIA levels, 3 (10%) patients had raised TSH levels.

ÖZET
Total larinjektomi + radikal boyun disseksiyonu + hemitiroidektominin tiroid fonksiyonları üzerine olan etkisini belirlemek için 30 hastada çalışma yapıldı. Radioimmunoassay ile serum triiodothyronine (T3 RIA), serum thyroxine (T4 RIA) ve serum tiroid stümile edici hormon (TSH) ölçüldü. Postoperatif T3 RIA ve T4 RIA değerleri tüm hastalarda, normal bulundu, 3 (%10) hastada yüksek TSH düzeyleri elde edildi.
